Dog training skills

The learning rules — classical versus operant, markers, and when to raise criteria — live on the training hub. This page stays the skill ladders: sit, recall, leash, station. Both belong in the same kitchen; they are not the same page.

Skills on this site are written as ladders: a starting criterion the dog can already meet, a raise you can see, and a failure mode that tells you to drop criteria instead of repeating louder. “Sit” is not a moral victory. It is a hip on the floor for a counted second, then two, then around a distraction you actually control.

Start with the recall ladder. For kit and first outdoor reps on a line, use long line recall — it does not replace the ladder page. Loose-leash walking, leave-it, drop it, wait at the door, door wait companion, place, sit for greeting, down-stay versus place, teach stay, teach sit, settle on lead, food bowl manners, tug rules, fetch that ends, and hand target / touch, chin rest, go to bed from place, threshold wait at the car door, and emergency U-turn, plus drop it with real trash, leave-it on walks, and place during cooking are full protocols. Treat crate training as your first duration skill and nipping as your first impulse-control skill. Both are built the same way: short sessions, clear pay-offs, no rehearsal of the opposite.

This is not sport curriculum and it is not an encyclopedia of cues. If a page cannot tell you what to do on Thursday evening in a kitchen, it does not belong in this lab.
