How does a name get poisoned?

It starts predicting loss.

Leave the park. Nail clippers. A stern walk across the kitchen. The word becomes a weather report for endings. Dogs then fail to “listen,” which usually means they heard you and voted with their feet.

If the name mostly ends the fun, the deafness is earned.

How do you rebuild check-in without cloning name-game?

Same pairing logic. Different problem: contamination repair and daily use.

Audit: write the last ten times you said the name. Count how many predicted something the dog dislikes.
Park the name for aversives. Bath, trim, and end-of-session get a different cue, a hand target, or quiet management.
Easy room: say the name once. When the head orients, mark and feed. Short streaks beat long lectures.
